Emotional Health = Part of Total Health (Andy Jenkins) | S1E7
I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers…
Those are the words of the apostle John, in the short letter he wrote to his church (see 3 John 2).
He wanted them to prosper…
… to gain…
… in every area…
… and in their health.
And he assumed that the measure of health they experienced in the soul would be the gauge of how well those other areas went (I think).
That means we should pay attention to the soul (which is different than our spirit— see Hebrews 4:12).
You see, we're multifaceted people- with a body, a soul, a spirit... and different aspects of health and unhealth. In the same way a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, we're only as healthy as ours. We discuss it- and outline some practical steps towards wholeness- in episode 7 of the Warrior Hope podcast.
There’s always room for greater levels of health- especially when we’re not afraid of labels and we’ve embraced the notion of total wholeness as the goal.
The goal isn’t to receive a diagnosis for PTSD or some other emotional issue (nor is it to necessarily avoid one). The goal is complete wholeness. And the reality is that, in some sense, precisely because life is both good and simultaneously hard, most of us have soul wounds.
Hop on and let’s discuss…
